There are two basic categories in which leather can be divided Pure/Real and Faux/Leatherette leather.
Pure/Real leather is a strong, flexible and durable material obtained from the tanning, or chemical treatment, of animal skins and hides to prevent decay. Leather as it ages becomes more beautiful.
Genuine leather is a grade of leather and is little inferior from pure leather and flexible, durable material obtained from the tanning, or chemical treatment, of animal skins and hides to prevent decay. Leather as it ages becomes more beautiful.
Faux in term of leather means synthetic leather. There are two sub categories in synthetic leather which are as follows:
Pu- Polyurethane and Pvc- Polyvinyl chloride.
PU leather, or polyurethane leather, is an artificial leather made of thermoplastic polymer.
It costs less than real leather.
It isn’t breathable and can smell of chemicals or plastic.
When exposed to heat may release toxic harmful gases.
Real leather as it ages develops a patina.
It is higher at cost.
It’s breathable and become beautiful as it ages.
It can sustain for a long time.
